Christian Fellowship: Christian African Conference
Hello!
The other pastor pictured to the left (side note: I didn't know any of the pastors names so I'm really sorry I haven't had any names in this blog! Please forgive me!) Was incredibly charismatic and fun to listen to! He would switch back and forth between Swahili and English. You can feel his passion by the way that he spoke in this image.
As Nathan said to me during the sermon "This man cannot take a bad picture!"
I loved how he charged every word with the movement of his hands and changing of his facial expression which made for some incredible shots.
The best part was when the translation would get difficult for the lady in the white and she would misinterpret a sentence, the pastor would give her a look and a second chance to say it again. God has such a funny sense of humor!
God is doing some amazing things!

Being back in Columbia, MO has brought on a ton of emotions. I would be hard pressed not to say that I miss Minneapolis. The 612 has such a special place in my heart that will always be there. The culture and feeling of the city was unbelievable. I am excited to go on a 5 day shoot in July!
That being said, Columbia is where I first really started to learn about who God is and what He says is true. When I first came back in town, I was approached by Nathan Buxman to shoot some photography at a conference called the Christian African Conference at Christian Fellowship Church in Columbia, MO. It was absolutely amazing. I couldn't believe it! We all have this idea of God and how big He is then He always blows our minds to show how big He actually is! Our idea of Him seems to always be a lot smaller! This conference proved to me how mighty and great God is.
I walked into this conference and the first thing that I noticed was how beautiful all the different outfits were. The different reds, oranges, yellows and all sorts of color's seemed to capture my eye as well as my lens.
The beginning of the service was worship with a man who had some sort of leg deformity who was singing a native African song. (Pictured on the right) I couldn't tell a single word that he was singing but it sounded so beautiful.
When the sermon started, that is when my vision of God really grew. The fact that God knows all languages is absolutely mind blowing to me.
"There are doubtless many different languages in the world, and none is without meaning" 1 Corinthians 14:10
I was blown away how God could use any language to show His love. The sermon was the best part. The pastor (Pictured on the left) would say a few sentences in Swahili then the women in the white would translate it to English. I loved it. Due to the translation I felt as though when the pastor talked I could hear him like he was speaking English right to me. God was glorified and magnified. The whole service was truly beautiful.
God is the ultimate unifier. He takes people from all over the world and unifies them with the power of His amazing Son.
"for you are all one in Christ Jesus" Galatians 3:28

It was really amazing to see. The way that people from a whole different continent could worship God the exact same way that I do and get captured by The Lord in a completely different language!
This is the exact reason why I have fallen so in love with photography. It isn't just taking a picture, its capturing a moment. Art. Capturing God's art. Every time I am able to pull out my 35MM I have the opportunity to capture life in motion. Photography has been something that, really for the first time in my life, I can say I love to do.
God is doing some amazing things!
